The CFO has a limited amount of money from donations and fund raising projects to be used for grants and scholarships. These funds will be awarded to qualifying individuals or organizations for projects that will have a lasting benefit to Colorado birds, or for scholarships to enable youth birders to attend birding programs. The CFO accepts both general donations and special project donations to further this agenda. Please visit our Contributions page to donate.
General donations to the CFO will be applied to needs of the CFO at the discretion of the CFO board.
Special project donations will go to the Projects and Scholarships Fund to award Project Grants for scientific research or bird conservation programs, or toward Youth Scholarships for young birders for training programs on the study of birds. Often CFO Project and Scholarship Fund grants are considered as matching funds for other larger grants.
The Projects and Scholarships Committee requires that the recipients of Special Project grants publish a short year-end summary of their funded work in Colorado Birds: The Colorado Field Ornithologists' Quarterly and/or present some of their findings at the CFO convention the next calendar year.
