New Meadowlark Species! Chihuahuan Meadowlark Includes the Lilian’s Subspecies
Based on research done as an undergrad at CU Boulder, Johanna Bean’s proposal to split two subspecies from Eastern Meadowlark has been accepted the the AOS. The new species is the Chihuahuan Meadowlark.

This past year I discovered that chickadees in Boulder are experiencing infections with SGS1, a highly invasive strain of the avian malaria parasite (Plasmodium relictum) that has not previously been reported in Colorado.
